Measure Lead Quality, Not Just Clicks
A marketing report should help you decide what to do next.
Practical guide • Reviewed October 2026
Clicks and impressions describe activity. They do not establish whether the business received suitable enquiries or followed them up effectively. A small business can build a more useful review by connecting marketing information to a simple enquiry record.
Define a worthwhile enquiry
Agree the service, location, budget or need that makes an enquiry relevant. Keep the definition understandable to both the marketing and sales teams. A form submission with no buying intent should not automatically be reported as a qualified opportunity.
Check the landing-page promise
The page should answer what the service covers, who it is for and what happens after an enquiry. An advertisement and its destination need a consistent offer. Test the form on a phone and confirm the enquiry is saved before increasing traffic.
Record the next action
Capture a source where available, an owner and a follow-up outcome. Attribution may be incomplete, particularly across devices or offline conversations. Show the uncertainty instead of assigning every sale to the last visible click.
Review the full funnel
Compare relevant visits, enquiries, qualification, appointments or quotations and the outcomes you can reliably measure. A weak follow-up process can limit the value of a good campaign. A broad audience can create cheap enquiries that never progress.
Make one informed change
Use the review to decide whether the offer, targeting, page or response process needs attention. Avoid changing every variable simultaneously. The aim is a learning cycle grounded in your records, not a promise of a fixed advertising return.
